When my MS gets ramped up I experience the fun Vertigo, hot pain in my left cheek (not my butt cheek lol!Sorry gotta laugh when you can), hearing loss so severe in my right ear that I wear a hearing aid and have with continued tinnitus in that ear as well(even though I am 95% deaf) and when I am fatigued- which is almost everyday- my right eye drifts towards my nose & I see double & have glasses for that. I've never mentioned it to my ms nurse or neuro because I cant explain it very well and it sounds silly. It comes and goes; but I am unsure whether I should visit the dentist; or my neurologist (who I think will just confirm that I have it). I can't look at anything to strain my eyes. I have had these bizarre symptoms for around 5 years now and they are getting weirder and more frequent. It showed a LOT of demyelination of the pons in the brain stem! Yikes. I don’t know if the exploding head syndrome is part of the MS though. I am now 72.

I would appreciate any comments on this I can get. Research tells us exercise can help you manage common MS symptoms, like fatigue, muscle spasms or balance. It probably delayed my MS diagnosis by 6 years-- but I have never had a symptom like Lhermerres since. Even this morning when I woke up it felt like my pillow was wet & I felt it on my face. It’s hapenned before throughout my life. I don't get them all that often anymore. The first time I heard a very loud bell.

The short answer is yes, anxiety can cause cold sensations and burning sensations, even on the head. Thank goodness. January 20, 2010. Devin is correct, but you're right that it could be MS. Formication is also a type of paresthesia which is defined as tingling dermal sensations. I take Baclofen for it, and it helps somewhat. Seeing all the comments, I now realize how common it is!

I have some of the weird symptoms along with the common symptoms, but the treatment that really has helped me is a sleep apnea machine.

For me the unusual sensation is the feeling that my hands are sticky, like I have just eaten some watermelon. I had two colds in the past six years. i googled it and found it was linked with ms, touch wood its not happened for a while now..... Tony.. Oh, how I wish I did not have MS.. I hear a loud phone ringing every time. If it's musculoskeletal, how is my regular doctor going to help me?

Always consult your doctor about your medical conditions. Your head may feel it is bubbling, burning, fizzing, prickling. I also have the more typical symptoms of fatigue and spasticity. But for the past ten years or so, I haven't been able to tilt my head back while standing without risking a fall ... even sitting in a chair outdoors and leaning my head back causes dizziness and light-headedness. Thank you Julena, you may want to mention that to your doctor to be safe. Not hot flashes, no sweating and my legs and abs are affected. I've asked my Dr. about it and he doesn't think it is related to my MS.

Really Weird MS Symptoms. Brain Fog, feelings of dissociation, mild feeling of head fulness are commonly seen in someone who has a history of Sleep Apnea Syndrome. at 50 an alert young neuro treating me for migraines put two & two together and WA LA. It has never occurred in the eye that didn't have optic neuritis. I had all kinds of treatments including having all my teeth ground down so that they wouldn't clash together in my mouth.
Altered sensations are fairly common in multiple sclerosis. Certain physical symptoms associated with anxiety can cause weird feelings in the head as well. I got better, they gave me nothing for it....and I didn't get a change in my fibromyalgia diagnosis. I don't know if that is migraines or just another of my MS symptoms. I have had the wet sensation a lot actually. Vertigo, how well you describe what I can only feel. Lhermitte's Sign was my second, but that finally petered out twenty years ago. But I also experience the bells like you do. The end result is intense squeezing and crushing feelings. And, sometimes, holding up the head can feel like a heavy task. I have yet to be actually diagnosed with MS, but my neurologist has said that it is most likely what I have.

We never went in, I just wanted to be close in case I was having a major heart attack. But the mental and physical fatigue, hitting that WALL and having a spouse that thinks you aren't trying hard enough. My point is that we are much more susceptible and need to remember that. It’s odd because it feels like hot pokers underneath my skin on my right arm only. Now imagine the consequences of such a thing if you were driving or operating dangerous equipment, it’s not only unpleasant, it’s dangerous. For me, it often happens with my legs (but this happens to other parts of the body too), I will suddenly feel like my legs are soaking wet. The wet thing!! Maybe do mention it to the nurse or neuro next time, as they might have some ideas? It feels like your head is electric. I've had exactly that, intermittently, since about 3 years before I was diagnosed. It literally burns & feels wet underneath only 1 nostril, and also inside the same nostril BUT only on the bottom, inside it. Lhermitte’s Sign, also called Barber Chair Sign, is an electric shock sensation that happens when the neck is tilted down. I had been through PT several times with no impact to this thing I felt. This is more a byproduct of treatment than the actual disease, but there is a tendency for those battling MS to get other illnesses more easily. Lyrica helped. It's not in my ear and I googled exploding head syndrome (that made me smile!)

Its inside the head, mostly when i turn my head the slightest movement. I had just woken up. I get a loud electrical ping shooting from one side to the other, like a bullet zooming through my head. The latest weird one for the past 6 months had been on the bottom of 1 or both of my feet under my toe pad area. Sometimes I just put up with a strange sensation or painful problem because I do not know how to describe it to the doctor without sounding crazy. He was wonderful and actually listened. Pffft!
